Collectively, RSR’s analysts have nearly 75 years of experience as retailers, spanning grocery, fashion, specialty and restaurant/hospitality. Our backgrounds encompass store operations and workforce management, supply chain, merchandising, marketing, and IT.

Nikki Baird

Nikki Baird is one of the most recognized analysts covering the retail industry. She focuses on trends impacting the consumer-retailer relationship, along with their supply chain and marketing implications. She has written research and articles on topics ranging from in-store marketing and technology, store performance management, supply chain and multi-channel fulfillment, retailer-manufacturer collaboration, merchandising, and loyalty and promotions management.  She has been quoted as a subject matter expert in The Economist, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and National Public Radio. She has been a retailer, a software provider, and a consultant before becoming an analyst. Nikki has an M.B.A. from the University of Texas, Austin, focusing on operations and IT. She also holds a bachelor of arts in political science and Russian, with a minor in physics, from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Brian Kilcourse

Brian is a recognized leader in retail technology practices. One of the top retail CIO’s in the United States during his ten-year tenure at a leading West Coast retailer, Kilcourse was named one of the Premier 100 IT Leaders by Computerworld magazine and by Information Week as leader of the #1 retail IT shop in 2001. Brian is a frequent public speaker on subjects ranging from emerging technologies to IT governance and best practices. He also has led training seminars on the subject of selling technology value to retailers” Brian has authored research on Multi-Channel Retailing, Retail Data Security, RFID, Business Intelligence, Services Oriented Architectures (SOA), and Software as a Service (SaaS) among other topics.

Paula Rosenblum

Paula is widely recognized as one of the top analysts in the retail industry and was selected as one of the “Top 50 Retail Influencers” by Vend. She also writes a weekly blog for Forbes magazine. She formerly served a retail analyst at AMR, Aberdeen Group and RSAG. Previous to that, Paula spent over 20 years as a retail technology executive and CIO. She works with Wall Street analysts and industry trade associations on a regular basis and is involved with various charities that support human growth and development. Paula received her MBA in 1991 from Northeastern University, with a major in management of High Technology firms.

Steve Rowen

Steve is RSR’s emerging markets specialist. In addition to having been a pioneering analyst in the field of customer data security, Rowen’s additional areas of coverage include environmental sustainability within retail, cross-channel and eCommerce applications, as well as merchandising and workforce management technologies. Prior to his work as an analyst, Steve served as senior editor for multiple retail publications. He has a bachelor’s degree in American history from the University of Maine, and an extensive retail practitioner background.
